The fact is that Anet should not have offered it in the promotion in the first place. It was unfair on those who dont like to purchase the game in that fashion, couldnt afford to or dont have a credit or debit card but still wanted the extra lore and missions.

They should have sold it as a seperate item in the first place!

It was purely a marketting scheme to caused excitement about it, cause outcry and demand and then ultimately meet that demand.

This would be the same thing as if ANET offered the Prophecies CE glow in the online store because the promotion didn't target enough people.
You cant really compare making your hands glow because your bought a special edition copy of propherices to having access to extra lore, missions, locations and weapon skins!

They sell the bonus weapons in a pack in the store, which were originally only part of a special gold edition or something. No one complaines about that!

Lore is a major part of the game and something everyone should have access to. You cant really justify restricting that kind of content just because you didnt take part in a promotion!

I do sympathise with those who coughed up more for GWEN or spent £17.99 on the store to get the BMP, but I personally think you were daft to believe it would remain exclusive.

This would be the same thing as if ANET offered the Prophecies CE glow in the online store because the promotion didn't target enough people. It is wrong. Just like selling the BMP is wrong. People who acted on it by supporting the company before it was even released, trusting ANET did a great job with it should be rewarded. Why do all the people who didn't have their full trust get to purchase it, and for 10 USD nonetheless. Shame I say! You didn't put your confidence in ANET to make it worth acting on during the promotion. Well I say, you snooze, you lose. Guess ANET doesn't have respect for those that support them even without evidence.
Exactly.
They just kicked in the teeth those who took part in the promotion.

It was clearly stated that the PlayNC store worked as well. So, um...yeh.

Oh, and some of us didn't get it for free. I had to buy useless character slots on 2 of my accounts to get it. So, no, it wasn't free. We had to purchase said items through the online store for a more expensive fee (aka GW:EN) then what retailers had it for. We put our trust in ANET that the product was worth the random expenditures before we even saw it. You should have to pay 30 USD for it. Period.

Oh, and at 17, you can have a checking account, which means you can have a debit card. You can be 16 and have a checking account.

Another bait & switch business practice by Anet. Where's the news?

I'd bet that some of you will still be here and whine about similar issues when GW2 comes.

Or perhaps we'll just buy what we want and not be concerned if there is a "second printing" of it later...

Comic Book companies do second printings all the time.

No you still got it for free, it was your own choice to buy those char slots. So stop your whining already.

Like it was your own choice not to get the BMP.

And that isn't the only problem: As Rahja said...we got backstabbed for our loyalty.

It wasn't just the box - we were lied to.

If the BMP was a big "thank you" to those who bought stuff in the online store during the promotion, than it's fair to say that selling it now is a big "F#*k you" to us now.
Lol I love that statement I can feel your anger and contempt. Good one, but, of course it's just words and letters into the wind it's not going to stop them and people will still buy GW2 no mattere how much they offended you or the handful of others that are pissed because they got the big F#*k you. hahaha That is funny though.

you can get a credit card at 17

I was one of those that felt betrayed.

But now that Gaile has explained it i feel a lot better /sarcasm.

Apparently, the PROMOTION wasn't going to be available when it ends (ie. stating the bloody obvious- ofcourse if the promotion ends that means that you cannot get BMP anywhere *small print* if you spend 30 USD after the promotion.

Pretty much a play on words. Either Gaile lied about not having any "current information" as to whether they will release it again, or the Anet fatcats just didn't tell her

After all, business is business.

I'm afraid i was rather disappointed about how this all was handled. I thought the BMP was only available through the promotion.

Anet thought their message was perfectly clear - that the promotion itself would end, not the BMP.

Well Anet...if you didn't notice...there were 2000000000000094 threads QQing about "GIVE US DA BMP, WE IZ THINKIN IT WAS DA CRAP WID DA MISSNZ BUT NOW IT HAZ WEPONZ WE WANTS IT".

if you really thought it was understood...then you are either blind or this is all false.

seriously...just seriously....have a look at all the QQ threads earlier...see how many misunderstood what you meant.

This is exactly what is happening here:
http://www.somethingawful.com/d/news...-frontline.php

By the way, how exactly would not "abandoning" GW1 be better than making a new game to solve its problems? You're not paying a subscription on GW1, and you'd also pay for a new chapter pretty much the same way you'd pay for GW2 anyway.

Hell, you can think of GW2 as a new chapter if you want, except with a whole string of improvements that wouldn't have been possible otherwise, with the minor cost of not being able to (exactly, at least) carry characters over. Sure, you might not like the "improvements", but hasn't it always been like that with new chapters anyway? Not everyone liked Factions' PvP changes, and not everyone liked heroes or PvE skills either.

Looking at a lot of your posts, are you so spiteful and petty that you want to keep the BMP all to yourself? I could understand getting upset if they made everyone pay for it, but they're not - those who bought EotN or anything in the store (like I did) you got it for free, that's the bonus.

They are buying additional content which we already obtained for free, it doesn't effect your game in anyway whatsoever, nor the market.

To those who got the BMP from the promotion, it being free is your reward.
To those who are buying it now/would have to buy it now, it's optional! Aside from weapon skins, it really doesn't add much to your game.

I dont mean this to sound harsh, but it will.

That was your choice and you were stupid for doing it. You dont put your "trust" into any company, because they are purely after your money.

The sheer fact that you had to buy GWEN along with 2 character slots just to get the BMP didnt register that in your head, it was purely just a marketting scheme to make us spend more then we needed to?

Although why did you get 2 characters slots too, when you only had to spent over £17.99 and the game cost covered that!

Even I realised ne within 2 seconds of the BMP being announced that it was just a gimic to get money and I stuck to my guns and got it far cheaper from play.com. I refused to cough up nearly £10 more just to take part in a promotion intended to do nothing more then make your pay more.

Yes I lost out on the BMP and risked not ever getting it, but im not going to fall to pressure from Anet just because they want to do nasty little promotions to make us spend more then I have to.

Im not made of money and I cant afford to spend more then £17.99 on a computer game and Anet expected me to cough up around £29.99 for the game!

But please keep in mind that it will still cost us around £10 to buy the BMP now anyway.

Thats £17.99 for GWEN + around £10 f the BMP, which in total is pretty much how much the cost of GWEN from the online store. The only difference is I got GWEN in a nice, sexy box with a manual and art work while you got nothing tantiable.

Personally I feel I got the better deal because atleast I can hold a box in my hands and know I own the content.

We've all spent the same amount at the end of the day, so stop being spitefull just because you fell for a stupid promotion and feel ripped off now. You were stupid enough to do it at the time.

Go complain to trading standards if you really feel Anet has been under-handed but I think they might laugh at you!

That is your opinion on the box. IT is still, just a box. Having the box to me doesn't imply ownership when all I really own is a license to play the game. The box is just the shiny feature to sell you the license and come with tangible goodies, if you like them.
IF, like other games, you need the CD to install/play the game, you have a strong valid point to make about ownership. Products through online vendors like Steam allow you to own the content you download, but if Steam goes down, you own nothing.

However, not arguing with you, just stating an opinion.

Final note: I am seeing a trend here in the view of the BMP. At first it was all about being foolish for buying from the GWonline store, then being elieteist for having the BMP (cuz somehow we didn't want people to have it ), and now to HA HA I have a box and you don't (not directed at you freekedoutfish). None of this sounds of elitism, just good old human jealousy.
Either way, I got the BMP and I could care less about the box.

TBH im just given as good as I get, and we're getting people saying "you dont deserve the weapons because you didnt buy it during the promotion". So if they want to be spitefull and childish, I figured id join in.

Nananana, I got GWEN cheaper!!!!

Note: we didnt actually get anything cheaper!

Buying it for £17.99 (GWEN) from the store + £8.99 for the BMP is virtually the same cost of buying GWEN from Anet during the promotion to get the BMP.

We have all paid the same people. The diference (as I said above) is it took longer, but myself and others got a boxed version.

If , for some reason, you bought more then just GWEN from the online store and spent more then you needed to, to qualify for the promotion then tough luck. Why did you spend more then you needed to? You only had to spend £17.99 and the game was over £20+!

Thats aimed at those who bought 2 characters slots too!
